8 months!

Let the countdown begin! I'm now 36 weeks pregnant! She is now about six pounds and 20 inches long, with soft bones and cartilage to allow a safer journey through the exit door. Most of her systems (from circulatory to musculoskeletal) are ready for prime time, though her digestion system — which has done only practice runs so far — will kick into gear as she takes her first feeding. Growth will experience a slowdown now, both so she will be able to fit the narrow passageway to the outside and also so she can store up all the energy needed for delivery.

Jonathan says I'm waddling more and more each day. I definitely feel bigger but have really enjoyed this trimester. The pregnancy waddle is due to the horomone-triggered loosening and softening of my connective tissue. Which I feel a difference in my hips and pelvic area. I was on my feet too much yesterday and by that evening I was uncomfortable and sore.

Her movements are more of a squirm now! I can feel her stretching out and the past two nights she's kicked me in the ribs at about 5am. I'm assuming she's getting me ready for those early morning feedings! With the growing of my belly I don't feel like I can eat as much as I normally do... but I feel like my appetite is up too!

One big change has been all the swelling. My ankles are larger than normal (thank God it's still pant weather!) and my feet are puffy by the evening. That's been the toughest to get used to lately because shoes aren't fitting! And it makes walking around difficult.

I'm still sleeping well, except for waking up with my hands painfully numb (our next appointment is this Monday so I'll be asking about this then). And we're still sleeping with a humidifier which I really like because it's keeping a little moisture in the room.

She's still getting the hiccups daily. I'll feel her fidget for a minute and then they'll start up. And her new adorable trait is that we think she likes her bottom rubbed! If we rub a certain part of my belly she pushes it out more when we stop. SO cute! And we think we felt her foot the other night! We can't wait to see her!

We're looking forward to this weekend! Our shower is Saturday with family flying in from Pennsylvania, family driving from Statesville, and friends driving from Charlotte and Greenville! And then our appointment Monday (and Valentine's Day)! It's going to be a busy one!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Oh no the swelling has hit you?!?! Not fun-- but one more month and it'll be gone for good! My hips and pelvis felt sore for the first time the other day when I was getting out of my car. I guess it's a good sign meaning they are pushing down on those bones, but it sure isn't comfortable!! You sound like you are doing great though, I hope you have a wonderful shower I'm sad I can't make it (but look out for something in the mail!). Talk to you soon!
