3 months!

Well we're back from our little unannounced blog hiatus! Sorry about that, life got busy!

E turned 3 months old last week! She now weighs 10 lbs. 13 oz.! She is still a great eater, as long as we don’t go too long in between feedings! Typically 3 ½ hours is long enough. But this is stretched out a little bit longer at night. Elizabeth is comfortable taking a bottle from anyone now too.

Daddy-Daughter time

As for playtime, Elizabeth loves to be held so she can look at everything. She’s becoming very observant! She loves to coo and talk and we’ve heard a little laugh for the first time this week! She still enjoys “the ocean” mat, her swing and staring at ceiling fans. And she lights up when she sees Mom, which is so awesome!

This is the face I usually get when she sees the camera or video recorder

Our nighttime routine consists of feeding, bath, music and massage/lotion, playtime and then rocking until she falls asleep. Elizabeth will then sleep for five or six hours and will wake to eat again. She will then go back down for four more hours. This has been the norm the past month… but this week she’s been sleeping 5 hours, wake to eat, sleeping again for 7 hours. Hopefully she’ll drop that middle feeding soon!

Aunt Ashley and E

The summer heat has been awful here lately. It’s taken a toll on our little girl as she’s gotten a heat rash on her back. It’s finally going away and we’ve switched her soap and lotion which seems to be helping. I love the warm months but am ready for some cooler weather so we can be outside again!

Elizabeth is getting longer everyday! Most 3-6 month pajamas are too short and too wide. And some of the footies are too small too! It’s like Goldilocks searching for the right bed sometimes! The best brand so far has been BabyGap; perfect for a long and lean baby! Also she is so long that she can push on her mirror in the car (it lights up on the bottom) with her feet!

Playing with Uncle Ryan

And her hair is starting to come in more than ever. Right now it looks like she’s got a buzz cut! It’s sort of blonde in the front and deep red in the back. It might be awhile before it’s all in from the looks of it!

Neat new tricks:
• Swatting and grabbing toys, especially in “the ocean”.
• Starting to roll! I was lucky enough to catch it on camera the other day! It’s not a full roll yet, but we’re getting there!
• E likes to make lots of bubbles and drools all over our shoulders!
• Smiling at every waking
• Following people as they walk around and trying to find where noises are coming from
• Found her hands! Enjoys staring at them and putting them in her mouth
• Sucking her thumb! She hasn’t figured out that it works better to fold her other fingers down yet, so cute!
• And biggest one yet… the pout. That little lip sticking out brings tears to our eyes! And we’re not even sure what brings it about yet!

We've got a thumb sucker!

We are loving this stage as she finds out more about her world and her self! She’s such a sweet baby!
